The paintings I make on the outside of structures and objects are created for different reasons. Some in response to the architecture, others to memorialize a friend or pet. They all have in common that they will disappear with time, aided by human intervention and the elements.
After trespassing for many years to paint on the Fleischmanns bungalows, we bought the land, and tore down the nine condemned structures. I felt a loss when I saw my paintings crushed and scattered by the excavator, even though I knew they were temporary. It was not just the end of the paintings but of the physical history of the people who stayed here every summer.
The forest is what remains.
